FAQ

Candles

  • How do I get the best burn from my South x Midwest candle?
Our candles are crafted for a slow, luxurious burn. A full melt may not be reached on the first few uses—and that’s perfectly normal. By the fourth burn, if the wax hasn’t reached the edges, try not trimming the wick and allowing the candle to burn a bit longer (over 3 hours) to create an even melt pool.

  • How long should I burn my candle each time?
For an ideal experience, we recommend burning your candle for 3-4 hours. This helps preserve the fragrance and wax integrity for a balanced, lasting scent experience.

  • Why is trimming the wick essential?
Trimming the wick to 1/4 inch before each burn ensures a steady, clean flame. This small act of care enhances the longevity and performance of your candle.

Ambiance Sprays

  • Can I use the ambiance spray on fabrics?
Yes, our ambiance sprays are safe for most fabrics. Mist lightly over linens, upholstery, or clothing—excluding delicate materials like silk. If unsure, try a patch test on a hidden area.

  • How often should I use my ambiance spray?
Our sprays are designed to elevate your space with a subtle touch. A few spritzes go a long way to refine your surroundings, providing a luxurious scent without overpowering.

Serenity Soaks

  • How should I use my Serenity Soak?
Add a generous handful to warm bathwater and allow it to dissolve, releasing calming aromas for a restorative experience that nourishes both body and mind.

  • Are all scents available for Serenity Soaks?
Please note: Soaks are not available in every scent due to suitability. Only select fragrances are chosen for their calming and soothing effects, perfect for the bath.

General Care

  • Why are South x Midwest products crafted in small batches?
We believe in quality above all. Small-batch production allows us to carefully oversee each step, ensuring every product meets our uncompromising standards for luxury and purity.

  • What should I do if my candle flickers or produces smoke?
Flickering and smoke typically result from a long wick or drafty conditions. Trim the wick to 1/4 inch and place your candle in a still, draft-free location.
